Alien
Lily Gebs
Alien • Lily Gebs
I am lying on the bed with my eyes open like an alien creature
Finding some pose that seems to reasonably copy human sleep
My head is turned away from him
And towards the light alien green wall
"Do you want pills?"
He asks. "They will knock you down."
"No," I say, "I'm okay," each word a machine-like beep
Earthlings are strange
They are made of
A car covered in hentai stickers that lived down the street, unashamed
A fruity air freshener that hugged you when you walked through the door
Burnt kale chips
And disappointing humanity's God
I don't know whether to pity them or envy them
